It is a very hot day, a summer’s day, August the 1st, the temperature is about 37 degrees C and going up. Authorities in Montenegro and Croatia warned citizens yesterday to stay out of the sun and drink a lot of water, during a heat
wave that has hit the Balkans this week. We actually also had a thunderstorm yesterday, with very heavy rain-drops, almost like hale, but it did not last, we are having serious drought conditions. The climate is definitely changing, very worrying indeed. The spate of extreme weather sent the temperatures soaring towards 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) and brought warm winds to some areas.
A large fire erupted on the outskirts of the Montenegrin capital of Podgorica, threatening suburban homes, Lustica was also ablaze in certain areas. Firefighters used water-dropping planes to battle the blaze, it’s a tough summer. Humidity is another issue, one could hardly breath at Boka Bay level.
